Kudos goes to BC alum Aziz Shittu for his outstanding effort during the Rose Bowl. The 2012 Thunder graduate had a game-high 10 tackles, a large number for a lineman. He had 1½ sacks and 3½ tackles for loss and was named the Rose Bowl’s Defensive Player of the Game. Aziz is the 16th ranked DE in the country and has been projected to be selected in the 3-5th rounds of the upcoming NFL draft. Aziz’s lightning first step and ability to stay low are attributes that Head BC Football Coach Kevin Navarra has seen since Aziz’s playing days for the Thunder. “Aziz playing at Stanford and on TV a lot makes me feel proud to say I had a hand in guiding him in the beginning,” says Navarra. When Navarra was asked who was better looking between Aziz and himself he responded, “Hands down I am better looking, actually he copies my Swag.”
Aziz truly embraced and got the most out of his college experience. Click here to see his Stanford teammate’s impressions of him.

If you see a 6’5” bearded substitute teacher walking around the BC campus, take another look. It is the big lefty, Stanford graduate Brett Mooneyham(BC-2008) returning to the scene of the crime. Mooneyham has spent the past year rehabilitating his hip and is now ready to take the rubber again this spring for a major league team.

Arguably, the best basketball player on campus is Senior Kaelee Lynch. Lynch leads the lady hoopsters with 19 points and six and a half boards a game. Vanessa Lopez chips in with 10.2 points per game as the 8-7 Thunder get ready for league play. Coach Shane Gentry’s theme for the girls this year is reciprocity. In other words, you get what you give. Best of luck ladies in a wide-open CCC race.
Speaking of basketball, the boys team is showing signs of improvement over the past few years. The Hustling Thunder currently have a 6-10 record in a very difficult preseason that saw the boys playing elite teams in Las Vegas. Jake Walejko(8 ppg, 81% FT) and Alex Andrade(6.6 ppg) lead the way into league where there is no clear favorite.
The Golden State Warriors continue to make a mockery of the rest of the NBA despite being bitten by the injury bug. Do they try to eclipse the 72 regular season wins by the 1996 Chicago Bulls or do they rest their guys for the playoffs? I guess that’s why Steve Kerr/Luke Walton get paid the big bucks.
Lastly, what the heck has happened to Northern California NFL football? The 49ers organization is in shambles and the Raiders want to leave for LA a second time. Perhaps it is time for football fans to get another hobby. Anyone know how to knit?
