The Buhach swim team is filled with hardworking and fun individuals who take part in team cooperation and athleticism. Once they dive into water, the true work begins. Even though they all take a stance in the team, there were two people who stood out the most. Head swim coach Mark Tanzillo presented varsity senior Tristan Howard and junior Gwynne McBride as athletes of the month from the swim team. Tanzillo states, “They’ve been fast so far and have been to a lot of practices.” He added in, “Gwynne had helped her team beat the 200 medley relay record and as for Tristan, he’s just a great swimmer in general.” It seems their dedication to swimming for their senior year stood out to Tanzillo. An interview was conducted to both swimmers

Why do you think you were chosen as athlete of the month?
I do what I have to, to get better and take into consideration to be the best I can be.
Why do you like to swim?
I originally swam to play water polo, to stay in shape and it became an everyday thing.
What are your future plans? Does any of it involve swimming?
I don’t plan to swim in college. There’s a community college in Colombia that is tied in with a firefighting program.
Would you rather win the lottery or live twice as long?
Win the lottery. I can live life to the fullest rather than seeing the negative in a life twice as long.

Why do you think you were chosen as athlete of the month?
I’m the team leader and I always make sure everyone is mentally and physically prepared for relays and other events.
What’s the best part about swimming?
Being with my team and it’s co-ed (boys and girls). We get to hang out and we’re close and it’s really fun.
How long have you enjoyed swimming?
I’ve been swimming competitively since I was 4 years old and loved it ever since.
Would you rather have a rewind button in your life or a pause button? Why?
A pause button because I wouldn’t want to change anything in my past but some things in the present I want to keep the same.
