English teacher and activities director John Callihan has been promoting spirit for our school and his amazing efforts had made an impression on principal Steve Hobbs. In fact, Callihan was picked specifically by Hobbs as teacher of the month without any hesitation, “He has the spirit this year on campus. He has changed the culture of the campus in a positive way.” Callihan was interviewed recently and answered with funny and quick answers.

Why do you think you were chosen for teacher of the month?
I have no idea .. because I’m trying really hard with leadership.

What do you hope to bring to Buhach?
A positive change in spirit.

What do you love about being an English teacher?
I do love my students and the subject.

Follow up question: What about the subject?
There’s something about studying literature and finding the connection to all of us-the human connection.

What is your perfect pizza?
You really want to know? Alright. My perfect pizza is round table pizza-it’s very basic-not that I’m super basic...but cheese pizza with white sauce from Round Table-boom! I am happy...I’m in pain because I’m lactose intolerant but I’m happy.

What question do you hate to answer? And why?
I hate being asked how old I am and I hate being asked how much I weigh. Why? Because I really don’t want to have to admit either one of them.

Can you tell a funny joke?
I have to think of one that is appropriate for school! I don’t know...I can’t think of one right now...all of them are dirty I can’t think of an appropriate one, this sucks. Okay...who was the most famous french skeleton? Napoleon bone-apart.
