Fresh Faces Leading Big Wins for BC Debate Club

Tuesday, February 16th english teacher Kris Freitas held a ceremony to reward the winners of the debate tournament on Saturday, February 13th. With having only spoke once before this competition, Junior Thomas Brinkop stole that first place title with ease when speaking about fish farming in the B division. Debate is leaving a great name for Buhach in the debate world with how these students are storming the challenges they face. Debate left with two other first place titles. Starting with the duo of Senior Taylor Goodwyn and Junior Alyssa Conroy going 3 and 0 in the Lincoln Douglass single debate. Moving onto public forum debate, going 3 and 0 as well, Junior Adrian Gomez and Freshman Viviana Gomez put up a strong front to keep them in first.
Alongside of those terrific wins, debate also took two second place awards. These awards include Senior Jessie Ruiz speaking in dramatic interpretation and Senior Aspen Young in impromptu speaking. These students worked hard and gave their all during the debate. These are not the only remarkable things that the students of debate have done. They have expanded debate club, branched out and have succeeded in creating a great environment for everyone. Freitas deserves a huge applause for his hard work , he gathered staff members and got them to the ceremony so that the debate club can get the recognition they so truly deserve. These students are merely getting started with leaving Buhach’s name in the amazing world of debate.
