Buhach Colony’s Varsity football team is filled with optimism for the new season. Many people do believe that they will make it to the playoffs and hopefully become CCC champions. According to coach Kevin Navarra, “This year's football team has the potential to be very successful. We have a strong core of seniors and competitive young group of players.” There are 19 seniors on the varsity team, including star players Pardeep Dhillon and Daniel Bernabe. Both Dhillon and Bernabe worked very hard on the off season to stay in shape and be physically prepared for the season. They also put in a lot of effort to become good examples for the rest of the team. Dhillon was given the role of team captain while Bernabe was selected to be a THOR leader by his teammates. There are many other good players on the team that will help Buhach make it

to playoffs and hopefully to championships. Junior Juan-Carlos (JC) Gomez stated, “I think we have enough talent to go deep into the playoffs as long as we stick to what we are supposed to do.”
Buhach’s previous varsity football teams in 2010/2012 finished 5-0 each year and won the CCC League title. The team also made the CIF DII Play-offs, losing each year in the semi final rounds to the eventual Section Champion. The records for the last three seasons were 5-5, 4-6, 3-7. Statistics for years 2010/2012 show that the coaching and the player’s potential both worked to help them win all of their games. The current team record is a 2-2 so far this year. They lost 2 games to Manteca and Clovis North, while beating Enochs and exploding against Pacheco with a 69-54 win. Come support the team this friday against Turlock High at Turlock High School!
Many of the Buhach Colony football players want to make it their career and become professional football players by all working very hard every day at practice to improve. It is a competition to become the best but it is a team‘s effort to win. Senior player Troy Smith states, “I feel that there shouldn't be a ranking. Each person shall strive to be the best, but knowing we all work together in order to achieve greatness together. We must be the leaders of the team.” Teamwork is the core of the sport and all of the boys on the team are aware of it. They all are very honorable people that respect each other just as they respect the sport.
