Ever wonder where BC staff members worked before they ended up here? What odd jobs led them to Buhach Colony High School? Well, let’s find out! Mr. Cometta, what odd jobs have you had in the past? “I had two different odd jobs… When I was 21 I was a bouncer at a nightclub and I delivered drywall. When I worked at the nightclub, I was a teacher earlier in the day. So it was pretty ironic that I would teach in the daytime and then work at the club by night. The drywall delivery job paid about 8 bucks an hour and as a bouncer I only made $4.50 an hour!” |
Hey, Mrs. Z., what jobs did you have before coming to BCHS? “I was a carny! I would travel around to county fairs! I also sold pizza!Oh, and Taco Bell! I loved Taco Bell. I worked in the drive through and it was so fun because on the speaker my voice would change! It was really cool.” Mrs. Crooks, what past jobs have you had? “I worked at a Golf and Country Club and I was also a hostess at Paul’s Place in Merced! By the time I could’ve become a waitress, I was well off on my own and ready to go to college. But one of my most unique jobs I had was entertainment… I was a hula dancer in a restaurant! I would perform Polynesian dances, but don't get it twisted, I never said I was professional!” |

What funky jobs did you have before coming to Buhach Colony, Mrs. Jackson?
“I used to work at Sears in Merced as a cashier in the Men’s Department, and I also worked at Jack in the Box on V Street! I worked in the drive thru, I love people. I loved talking and conversing with people on a daily basis. Not only that, but I was a dental assistant for 16 years also in Merced! I mostly worked with kids. I worked for Dr. Von Gooden and wanted to be a dental hygienist, but it got boring, I love it here! You kids keep me young!!” |
