The Band is racking up awards faster than you can say John Phillip Souza. At the San Mateo Winter review, they received 1st place Mace Majors and 2nd place Mace Apprentice. Advanced Color guard took a first place award while percussion, not to be outdone, took a first place award as well. Next week, there will be a combined concert with both the choir and the band performing. Also performing with the BC music department will be junior highs around Atwater. The concert will take place in the theater next Thursday at 7:00.
Big shout out goes to Junior Serena Rayon for her third place finish at the girls sectionals wrestling match.
Another angle to the Rich Cometta Rally, here on the BC Times website, it typically picks up about 220 hits a day. The day the Richwillwin story was published (Friday) saw the website get 3500 hits, and then 2700 on Saturday. Continued thoughts and prayers for Rich and a big shout out to writer Leeana Richardson.
There has been confusion regarding the International Baccalaureate program here at Buhach Colony. Currently in its second official year, student enrollment has been underwhelming since its inception. It was announced in the fall that the program would be terminated after next year. However, students and parents that were in the program spoke and new life was breathed into IB, at least for a few more years. The current cut-off will be when the freshman class graduates in 2019. After which, the nearest IB schools will be Modesto High to the north and Fresno High to the south.
Longtime PE coach Jason Bell has been out for months now with a complete achilles tear. Bell will undergo the knife in a couple of weeks and will more than likely miss the rest of the year. He will also be missed on the diamond this baseball season.
